“Find a place you trust, and then try trusting it for a while.” — Corita Kent
Operating with living beings requires a long-term engagement with the specific place in which they are rooted, to nurture meaningful relations, maintain them and guide their development. In time, we have established a network of places with specific and complementary conditions, where people and ecosystems come together, where we can test and grow, care for, exchange and learn from.

Here are our main operating places as well as some shorter-term experimental places, in Belgium and elsewhere.
Hengstenberg is our base farm, where we operate since 2017. In time, we set up a number of projects and experiments that constitute the core of our learning-by-doing process. The site is a patchwork of spaces, indoor and outdoor, with different growing and working conditions. Vast conservatories with different hygrometry nurse plants for different ecosystems, which we combine to find new possible acquaintances between species. In the wood workshop we build the components and furniture for gardens and public projects. The test gardens include gravel gardens, meadow systems, foodforest, productive plots and wooded areas.

Wingene is our second base farm and hosts the Plant en Houtgoed West team. In Wingene we focus on wood constructions and nursing plants.
Jeshile office is the base of our satellite design studio, Jeshile, set up in Tirana, Albania, to work on the specific Mediterranean conditions. Located in the dense city centre, it focuses on restoring nature in dense urban fabrics as well as tackling the challenges of more rural landscape projects.
Lebeau was located in central Brussels, in a building awaiting demolition. Its primary purpose was to investigate indoor ecosystems as a tool and a scenographic device to activate and mediate a hybrid programme of coworking, artist residences, exhibitions and a plant shop, while pushing the boundaries of what these ecosystems can become. The project will soon be reactivated in a new location in Brussels.
