Mobile & Temporary Ecosystems

This research explores the potential of mobile and temporary ecosystems to enhance urban environments. These adaptable landscapes serve multiple purposes: creating temporary scenographies, testing future interventions, and seizing short-lived opportunities to introduce meaningful nature into the city.

By studying how these ecosystems function, the research examines their role in strengthening the broader urban ecological network. It investigates how they act as nodes of dispersal, contribute to a foundational layer of urban nature, and support biodiversity in dynamic ways.

Mobile ecosystems can take various forms, from traveling forest modules to floating aquatic habitats, wastine ecosystems (wild, uncultivated landscapes), and temporary meadow installations. The study focuses on how these systems can be designed, assembled, maintained, and integrated into urban life, offering flexible solutions for ecological resilience and spatial innovation.
